The Cockpit – A special acquisition for my collection
Another nice acquisition iB at the beginning of June: The Cockpit. This game has something special, even if it is far from being the most exciting. At the time, it was difficult to play without a powerful computer, 256 Kb of RAM, a memory I had absolutely no memory in 1988 on my VG-8235 from Philips.
I remember having it in my hands in diskette form... but I can't throw it. Later, even with my beautiful HBF-700F, I could never play there (know why!). So falling on it in cartridge this month was the perfect opportunity to test it.
This cartridge MegaROM for MSX2developed by Nidecom and JAL, proposes an original concept: a night landing simulator! A whole program, you'll tell me. In addition to the precision required to manoeuvre the device, the game is distinguished by its off voices, which guide the player and announce warnings in real time – a technological feat for the time.
Of course, this is not the most beautiful game, but it offers a realistic simulation for its time. Very happy to add it to my collection, especially since the cartridge came in almost new condition. These Japanese are really strong!
