Bastard of the Xain Soft (formerly Sein Soft, developers of Tritorn, Super Tritorn and Mirai among others) is part of these inaccessible games at the time (I am talking about this in the 1990s) because not distributed in France.
Nevertheless, I think that MSX Video Center and may be Maubert It is proposed for sale.
I discovered it in the 1990s, two years after it was released on Japanese soil. Relatively easy to understand because without Japanese text, Bastard can be played largely without translation because in English (good effort...in English it's already very good!).
In my memories this game was relatively difficult and even a bit bogged down at the beginning. At the time I had attributed this defect to crackers but I just realized that it was the game that was developed like this. That said, it is quite playable (the enemies of the beginning do not appear and you have to come back from one screen to another to see them reappear.).

Bastard is a top-view RPG in which you have to... fight bad guys! Okay, I don't know what to do other than type the monster... win money and buy items. What an originality! However, this is the translation of the story that comes with the game.
To our brave soldier
You must bravely fight your enemies to restore peace, collect objects and mischief the most cruel monsters, DRAGON KING.
Good luck!!!
What a program!
Graph Bastard is quite beautiful and despite some sprite jumps on screen it is a real pleasure to play it. It is possible to accumulate gold to buy weapons and magic objects. You will also find objects throughout the adventure to allow you to continue your journey and face the final monster.
Here are some screenshots.

The site MSX Solutions created the maps of the game. Needless to say, Bastard is very, but then very long. There are a very impressive number of screens, leaving you with enough to try to finish it.
