About
Arkanoid 2: The Revenge of Doh, developed and published by Taito in 1987, is the direct sequel to the famous Arkanoid, released the previous year. This game is in line with the bridles, popularized by Breakout d'Atari in the 1970s, but it brings innovations that have marked the evolution of the genre.
In Arkanoid 2, the player again embodies the pilot of the ship Vaus, this time confronted with Doh, the entity that returns to revenge. The game introduces significant improvements, such as new types of bricks (indestructible, moving, etc.), new power-ups (multiple pulls, ship extension, etc.), and a more varied gameplay with multiple branched levels.
Launched initially on arcade, Arkanoid 2 was quickly carried on many platforms, including the MSX, a very popular machine for retro gamers. On MSX, the game retains its rich graphics and sound, while exploiting the technical capabilities of the machine to offer a fluid and captivating experience.
Today, Arkanoid 2 is considered to be a must-have of the 80's think-tank games, and it remains a reference for all those who wish to relive the golden age of the gaming.
