About
We are here on a particularly interesting issue of the series, because Disc Station #8 marks a real turning point in the history of Compile's floppy magazine. From this issue, the series moves into a more ambitious logic, with an even more worked presentation and above all a supplement that makes all the difference: aAudio CD 8 cm original Compile, included with both diskettes.
At the time, it was frankly the kind of object that was dreaming. For us in Europe, this type of Japanese physical version was almost inaccessible. These contents were discovered by copies, by exchanges between enthusiasts, sometimes long after their release. But to fall today on an original, complete copy, with its box, its two diskettes, its leaflet, its papers and its audio CD, is another story. There we are no longer only in MSX software, we are in the pure collection object.
As always with Disc Station, we are not talking about a simple game, but about a real interactive magazine on diskettes. There are games, demos, promotional content, sections, participations of Japanese publishers and this atmosphere Compile so special, between experimentation, humor, technique and passion MSX.
The content of this issue is very interesting. It includesFinal Justice, but also content aroundBlaster Burn, Aleste 2, Sam yo Eien neitherand several sections or demos from the Japanese MSX ecosystem. Specialized sources include:ALESTE2 4, or an amended/original version of Level 4 of Aleste 2,サムよ永遠に("Sam forever"),BLASTER BURN 1, CHRISTMASandFinal Justice.
The 8 cm audio CD is also a real plus. Based on the jacket and disc, it contains three tracks:Blaster Burn Dance Remix, Aleste 2 Sound Track C.D. VersionandHip House Compile. It's not just a gadget added to the speed, it's exactly the kind of bonus that shows how much Compile knew how to talk to fans. We had the game, the demos, the columns, and the music to listen to apart. For 1989, on MSX, it was still pretty classy.
The copy proposed here is complete and in a remarkable condition. The box is very clean, the jacket retains beautiful colors, the slice is superb, the two diskettes are present with their original labels, the leaflet is included, the paper questionnaire is present, and the audio CD 8 cm is also there with its protective pouch.
