Released in 1986, King Kong 2: Ikari no Megaton Punch is one of the most memorable games in the Konami range on MSX. Inspired by the eponymous film produced by Dino De Laurentiis, the game does not take back the events of the film directly but offers an original adventure, tailored to the fans of King Kong.
As King Kong, the player has to cross a variety of environments (jungles, factories, castles), where each stage is full of fierce secrets and enemies. Half way between The Legend of Zelda and a pure action game, this title innovates with its semi-open approach to level design and the management of power-ups essential to progress.
The game is part of the legendary series RC and remains one of the few to offer such an iconic hero. The combination of addictive playability and unique ambiance has attracted many players of the time.
