In Robo Wres 2001, the player takes control of a custom wrestler robot, ready to face other machines in an arena. Each robot has different statistics (power, defense, speed), and can execute a variety of futuristic catch catches: projections, special shots, ground crashes... The fighting takes place in one against one, with a system of timing and placement quite innovative for the time.

The game also offers a mode « programming » in which one defines in advance the behaviors of his robot, which gives the gameplay an almost strategic dimension or « semi-automatic ». A rare and original concept that distinguishes Robo Wres 2001 other fighting games of his time.

Graphically, the title displays imposing and well animated sprites for the machine, with a central ring and visual effects evoking futuristic technologies. The music, although a little repetitive, effectively accompanies robotic duels.
