Released in 2010 by Blizzard Entertainment, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is the long-awaited continuation of the famous StarCraft of 1998. The game resumes the world of original science fiction, opposing the Terrans, Zergs and Protoss in a galactic war full of conspiracy, betrayal and epic battles.
The solo campaign of Wings of Liberty focuses on the Terrans, and more particularly on the protagonist Jim Raynor. The story follows his fight against the tyranny of the Terran Empire led by Arcturus Mengsk, while exploring the mysteries surrounding Sarah Kerrigan, who became the queen of the Zerg blades.
Blizzard chose an episodic output model for StarCraft IIwith two extensions:
- Heart of the Swarm (2013), focusing on the Zergs and Kerrigan's quest for redemption.
- Legacy of the Void (2015), concluding history with the Protoss and a struggle against a cosmic threat, Amon.
