Aleste

Released in 1988 on MSX2, Aleste is a vertical shoot-up developed by Compile, a legendary studio of the genre. It is in line with frantic and technical shooting games, combining colorful graphics, intense action and an evolving weapons system. Aleste is the first title of a cult saga that marked the story of the shoots.

This game, released 37 years ago, is in a satisfactory general condition given its seniority. The box has some slight deterioration, including natural wear of the corners, typical of the editions of the era. Please note that the back cover has undergone a slight transfer to the plastic protection.

As is often the case with this type of publishing, a thin plastic band surrounding the box, of fragile origin, shows signs of detachment over time. However, the jacket remained intact and suffered no damage due to sun exposure.

The cartridge is like new and both records are in excellent condition. No mould or light deterioration.

An authentic copy for knowledgeable collectors, keen to acquire a piece of video game history.

About

In Aleste, you embody Raymond Waizen, a pilot who takes control of the Aleste ship to face an uncontrollable artificial intelligence: DIA 51. This AI, once intended to protect humanity, turned against it, triggering a total war. You will have to cross multiple levels with varied backgrounds, face ever more formidable waves of enemies and eliminate gigantic bosses to save the planet.

The game is based on an evolving weapons system with several types of secondary shots that can be recovered via numbered capsules. One of the strengths ofAleste is its balance between intensity and precision, requiring sharpened reflexes to navigate between enemy projectiles and maximize its arsenal.

  • Aleste is often confused with Power Strike, which is actually the adaptation of the game for the Sega Master System, with some adjustments.
  • This is the first game in the series Aleste, which will continue with iconic titles like MUSHA Aleste on Mega Drive and Super Aleste Super Nintendo.
  • Compile was renowned for her expertise in shoots, having also worked on the series Zanac and later Blazing Lazers (alias Gunhed) on PC Engine.
  • The soundtrack of the game was hailed for its lively rhythm and impressive sound quality for a MSX2 game.
