Castlevania - Order of Ecclesia is an action-adventure and platform game developed and edited by Konami on Nintendo DS. Released in 2008, it fits into the famous saga Castlevania and offers a gameplay inspired by Metroidvania, mixing exploration, intense fighting and elements of RPG. With its detailed 2D graphics and neat gothic atmosphere, it highlights a new Glyph-based combat system, allowing to equip spells and magical weapons. The atmosphere, the music, the graphics of the game perfectly evokes the Castlevania spirit that we had on MSX and then on PC-Engine.

About
In Order of Ecclesia, Shanoa was chosen by the Order of Ecclesia, an organization dedicated to the fight against Dracula, to recover the power of an ancient artifact, the « Glyph », to defeat the Count. Unlike other games in the series, which often highlight male characters, the protagonist here is a woman.
The gameplay mixes exploration, platform and dynamic combat. Players need to navigate across different levels, interact with various enemies, and improve Shanoa's skills by collecting Glyphs that give unique powers. The story addresses themes of sacrifice, power, and the legacy of the characters, as Shanoa discovers her past and her connection to the magic she uses.
The game system also highlights imposing bosses, elements of RPG, and graphics that honour the artistic tradition of franchise while bringing new features.
Even if it's not a direct suite, Order of Ecclesia completes Castlevania's universe by further developing the fight against Dracula and the exploration of the Ecclesiastical Order, introducing new dynamics and themes that enrich the general history of the series.
Although Order of Ecclesia he is structured around his own narrative and characters, he remains linked to Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin through play mechanisms, themes and narrative continuity unique to the universe Castlevania.
