Diablo III was released on May 15, 2012, a date that marked the history of the video game. Developed by Blizzard Entertainment, this title was one of the most expected of his generation. The development of the game was not without challenges. Expectations were immense after the success of the first two opus, and Blizzard had the heavy task of modernizing the formula while respecting the spirit of the series. The development team focused on a smoother gaming experience, improved graphics and advanced character customization.

The story of Diablo III takes place in the world of Sanctuary, a kingdom torn apart by the eternal war between angels and demons. Twenty years after the events of Diablo II, a new threat is emerging with the awakening of the Lord of Terror, Diablo. Players embody one of the seven heroes available, each with their own abilities and styles of play, and must unite to prevent the destruction of the Sanctuary. The gameplay focuses on dungeon exploration, character enhancement and loot collection. The game also offers a cooperative multiplayer mode that allows to combine with friends to face the hordes of demons.

Diablo III was an immediate commercial success, but its release was not without controversy. The HV system, which allowed players to buy and sell loot with real money, has attracted many criticisms and has finally been abandoned. Despite these difficult beginnings, Diablo III was able to reinvent itself with the Reaper of Souls extension, which brought significant improvements to gameplay and a new class, the Crusader. The game has since continued to evolve with regular updates, new objects, dungeons and new challenges, and it remains a must of the action-RPG genre.

Did you know that Diablo III's original concept was radically different? Initially, Blizzard had imagined a game with a third person perspective, closer to a classic action-RPG. However, after inconclusive tests, the team returned to the isometric view that made the success of previous opus. Another fun anecdote concerns secret levels: even if the level « Whimsyshire » full of ponies and teddy bears has often been perceived as a joke by fans, it testifies to the black humour and off-the-shelf side of the development team. Finally, the actor who lends his voice to the Tyraël Archangel, in the English version, has also performed many roles in video games and cartoons.
