The player controls an evolutionary spaceship through various vertical scrolling levels, each populated by waves of various enemies and bosses with formidable patterns. The gameplay is inspired by classics of the genre while offering an aesthetic that is faithful to the original work: stylized vessels with a design, backgrounds evoking d'asteroid fields, spatial bases or nebulae, and a soundtrack with typical MSX sounds.

The graphics, for a MSX game, are particularly detailed, with recognizable sprites representing emblematic characters of anime. The game also offers narrative sequences between levels, enriching the universe and further immerse the player in the dramatic frame ofGall Force.
