Released in 1984 on MSX, Hyper Olympic, also known as Track & Field, is a sports game developed by Konami. This iconic title offers players to participate in various Olympic events, such as the 100 meters, the long jump and the javelin, testing their speed and precision on the buttons. The gameplay is based on the player's ability to quickly and alternately press two buttons to run, and a third to jump or throw, reproducing the physical intensity of real competitions.

Hyper Olympic has been a resounding success, thanks in particular to its innovative control mode which tested the dexterity of the players. The game was also the precursor of a series of similar titles, including its direct sequel, Hyper Sports, released in 1984. An interesting anecdote: in 1984 Konami and Centuri organised an international competition on Track & Field, attracting more than a million participants, making it one of the biggest video game tournaments of the time.
