About

Released exclusively in Japan in 1988, this compilation brings together several major classics from the Konami MSX catalogue:

  • Knightmare
  • Antarctic Adventure
  • Yie Ar Kung-Fu
  • Yie Ar Kung-Fu II
  • Kings Valley

This selection alone summarizes part of the history of the Japanese video game of the 1980s. We move from Knightmare's ultra-nerve medieval shoot/action to Yie Ar Kung-Fu's pioneering gameplay, considered one of the ancestors of the modern combat game, not to mention Kings Valley and its level editor, which became cult among Japanese MSX players.

This series "Game Collection" also has a technical speciality very popular today by the enthusiasts of MSX: the RA006 to RA010 compilations could exploit the famous SCC+ sound module of Snatcher and SD Snatcher, offering improved music on some compatible models. A feature that has become mythical in the Konami MSX universe.

In the late 1980s, Konami literally dominated development on MSX. Many still consider this period to be the creative climax of the studio, with often more technically ambitious productions than their console equivalents. RA compilations represent the last great testimonies of this time before the progressive abandonment of support by the publisher.

Complete copies now become difficult to find in a good condition, especially with their original presentation typical of the late-generation Japanese Konami diskettes.

A must-have piece for any MSX collector, vintage Konami fan or passionate about Japanese video game history.
