About

Released on MSX by Microcabin, Princess Maker is part of these atypical titles that have marked the history of Japanese video game. The concept is innovative: the player embodies an adoptive father in charge of raising a young girl, from childhood to the age of 18.

Each decision influences its future: education, leisure, work, military training... everything helps shape its personality, skills and destiny. The originality of Princess Maker lies in its many ends: your daughter can become a princess, a legendary heroine, a recognized artist... or have a much more modest, even tragic destiny.

With its mixture of character management, narrative and evolutionPrincess Maker laid the foundation for a genre in its own right, which later inspired many life simulators. The version MSX benefits from beautiful graphics and neat music, typical of Microcabin, strengthening immersion in this singular experience.

Even if Gainax has never translated or published the game in other languages, the MSX community has organized itself to offer fan-translations in English and Spanish. Today they allow a wider audience to discover this cult title despite the language barrier.

The sound and graphics game design is signed Gainax and more specifically Takami Akai, influencer in the "animate" visual style that characterizes the title. This link between an iconic anime studio and the MSX scene reinforces the collector and symbolic dimension of the game.

Even today, the game is still wanted for its cult side and its influence in Japanese videoludic culture.
