SD Snatcher
Full cult RPG
Released only in Japan in 1990, SD-Snatcher is a unique case in the career of Konami and Hideo Kojima. If Snatcher is a cyberpunk visual novel at Blade Runner on PC-Engine and Mega-CD, SD-Snatcher is one full reinterpretation in the form of tactical RPG, with a lighter tone but a still so dark story.
In this version, the characters are represented in super deformed (SD), with large heads and exaggerated proportions typical of the chibi style, very popular in Japanese animation. This visual contrast with the mature scenario, mixing clones, government conspiracy and IA killers, makes the experience particularly significant.

About
A unique combat system for the time
The heart of the gameplay rests on fighting subjective view based on targeting by body parts. The player can target the head, torso or legs of the mechanical enemies, changing their behaviour and the difficulty of confrontation. This system anticipated dismemberment mechanics long before modern games like Fallout 3 or Dead Space.
The whole fits into a JRPG in turn by turn rich, with inventory, weapons management and level rise. The semi-open world and progress through Neo Kobe City add unexpected depth.
