About

Released in 1988 on MSX2, XZR: Hakai no Gūzō is the first part of the series XZR, later known outside Japan as Exile. The game alternates the phases of progression of type RPG in view of top with lateral scrolled action/platform passages, a structure that constitutes the very identity of the series.

XZR's interest is not only in its gameplay. The game also built a reputation for its very atypical universe, anchored in a widely Romance medieval Middle East, with a more daring narrative than the average of Japanese micro productions of the time. It is precisely this particular tone that has contributed to its status as a cult title to some of Telenet's fans and MSX2 collectors.

For a MSX collection, XZR is an important piece as it is the starting point for a license that will then undergo several adaptations and evolutions on other media. We're here facing the Chapter I, in Japanese version MSX2, in a diskette edition typical of the large Telenet / Reno productions of the late 1980s.

Example sold with:

  • original box
  • 2 game disks
  • present manual
