Disc Station #2
Here is a beautiful piece for MSX collector: Disc Station #2 by Compile, in its original Japanese edition, reference IA-8804.
Released in 1988, this second issue is one of the very first Disc Station, this cult series of disk magazines launched by Compile in the late 1980s. At the time, it was not simply a compilation of small programs. It was a real interactive magazine for MSX2, with sections, demos, playable content, illustrations, music and this very special Compile atmosphere that we find in their most striking productions.
Of course, in Europe, and especially among friends in France, we had almost no chance of getting a grip on this kind of Japanese physical version at the time. The Disc Station mainly circulated copies, like many MSX nuggets from Japan. And yet, what a happiness when we discovered these disks! One felt that one had access, almost in preview, to a small piece of the Japanese MSX scene, with demos, essays, original programs and sometimes an overview of games that would mark the machine.

About
This issue #2 is particularly interesting because it happens very early in the history of the series, long before Disc Station becomes a monthly institution for Japanese MSX users. We already find everything that made the charm of the formula: a careful presentation, varied content, from the blinks of eye to the Compile productions and a graphic dressing typical of this period.
The copy proposed here is in a remarkable condition. The box is superb, with a very clean jacket, fresh colors and a perfectly legible slice. Interior is complete with both original diskettes, package leaflet, paper documents and promotional items. The labels of the floppy disks are magnificent, with no coarse trace, no visible detachment, with still very clear visuals. Frankly, for a 1988 Japanese piece on diskette, we are on a rather rare level of preservation.
It is exactly the kind of object that one sometimes crosses in loose, sometimes incomplete, sometimes with a tired box or missing documents. Here we are on a nearly new, complete, clean, coherent, and really difficult to find in this state.
Note that Disc Station #2 is MSX2 and MSX2+ compatible, with 2DD disk support. It is a piece very representative of the Japanese MSX culture of the late 1980s, but also of the Golden Age of Compile, which the amateurs obviously associate with Aleste, Zanac, Golvellius, Puyo Puyo or Madou Monogatari.
A beautiful collection object, both for Compile enthusiasts, floppy magazine enthusiasts and demanding MSX collectors.
On the program of this Disc Station #2, we find a true typical mix of Compile disk magazines: mini-games, demos, previews, graphic sections, BGV, content from the Japanese MSX scene and home tools. Among the most notable elements are Mr. Swing of the Window Cleaning Company, Madoushi Lulba, Shin Maō Golvellius / True Golvellius, Sam no Bōken, Zapper, Blaster, Death Driver, as well as content related to MSX-FAN, MSX Magazine and the Compile Game Editor.
