About

The player embodies a space commander immersed in a war universe, where every decision can change the course of the galaxy. Unlike the more classic futuristic shoots of the time, Schwarzschild is distinguished by its oriented approach management and strategy in turn.

  • There is a need to manage entire fleets, allocate limited resources and develop expansion strategies.

  • Diplomacy plays a central role: forming or breaking alliances can be as decisive as military power.

  • The spatial battles, represented in a schematic but immersive way for the time, oblige to anticipate the opposing movements well.

Graphically, the game exploits the abilities of MSX2, with a clear interface and detailed illustrations in a style very close to the Japanese productions of the late 1980s. The soundtrack (FM) contributes to the atmosphere, increasing tension between management phases and fighting.

  • Schwarzschild is considered one of the pioneers of the genre great strategy game on Japanese microcomputers, alongside Koei titles like Nobunaga no Yabō or Romance of the Three Kingdoms, but transposed into science fiction universe.

  • The success of the game gave rise to an entire series on various media (PC-98, X68000, PC-Engine, etc.), confirming Kogado Studio as a major player in the field of complex simulations.

  • The name « Schwarzschild » is inspired by physicist Karl Schwarzschild, known for his work on black holes, highlighting the scientific and dark dimension of the universe.

  • Very little distributed outside Japan, this title remains rare on MSX and is today a true collection piece sought by retro STR and Japanese science fiction lovers.
