About
Released by Konami on MSX, Nemesis 2 is the direct suite of Nemesis, a name used in Europe for the Gradius series. This episode is now considered to be one of the great shoot them up of the support, both for its production, for its soundtrack and for the exploitation of the famous CSC sound chip embedded in the cartridge that is operated here for the first time on MSX (1987).
Here we find everything that makes the charm of the great Konami of the 8-bit period: a precise gameplay, a solid level design, a very marked spatial atmosphere and this visual identity immediately recognizable.
This European edition retains all the interest of the original version, with the charm of the western Konami distributions of the time. It's an important game in a MSX collection, both for its video and heritage value to Konami fans and CSC cartridges.

Did you know that?
- Nemesis 2 is the first Konami game on MSX to use the SCC sound chip. Even more interesting: according to Kazuhiko Uehara, this component had initially been developed for F-1 Spirit, but a schedule change made Nemesis 2 come out before.
- The Japanese ROM and the European ROM are identical. The game simply displays Gradius 2 on a Japanese MSX, and Nemesis 2 on machines from other markets.
- There is a playable prototype of Nemesis 2, quite advanced, which can be completed. This version even contains two internships, a boss and two music absent from the final version.
- Nemesis 2 on MSX is anterior to Gradius II arcade. In short, it is not a port of the arcade episode but a real suite designed first for the MSX range.
- In Salamander on MSX, there is a hidden bonus linked to Nemesis 2: having the cartridge in the second slot can unlock an enriched ending and even play the final stage of Nemesis 2 with the ships and weapons of Salamander.
