R-Type – Irem
A true reference on MSX, R-Type is the MSX version of the celebrous arcade game from Irem.
Released in 1989 on MegaRom support, the cartridge has an FM soundtrack but you must have an FM-Pac plugged in at the same time on its MSX. Some games of the time are also equipped with FM programming on cartridge.
The game here is functional, it is a rare piece in this state.

R-Type is a horizontal scroll shooting game developed by Irem, originally released in arcade in 1987.
He quickly gained popularity thanks to his innovative gameplay and immersive atmosphere.
In 1989, the game was adapted for several platforms, including the MSX.
In R-Type, you take control of a spaceship, the R9, and you have to navigate through levels full of enemies and formidable bosses. One of the key aspects of the game is the system of « force » which allows to improve the ship and add special capabilities, adding a strategic dimension to the gameplay.
The adaptation on MSX, although technically limited compared to the original arcade, was able to capture the essence of the game with neat graphics and a memorable soundtrack.
R-Type has become a true classic appreciated by retrogaming fans, embodying the enthusiasm of the 80s for shooting games and space adventures. A must have!
